
Hi! I’m Elijah
I am a distance runner, high school student, and type 1 diabetic. I am passionate about serving others with my time and talents. My mission is to help other people living with diabetes to find encouragement and support as well as information through this blog. I have learned that the most effective way to manage my diabetes is by taking a holistic approach and healing my whole body by taking care of my. mental health, eating whole foods, and exercising regularly. Here are some fun facts about me…
I live in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina where I enjoy running and hiking ear round. I love being in nature and I take daily walks in the woods.
In 2024, I ran my first marathon in the mountains of western North Carolina and I was hooked.
I am also legally blind and have been since birth. But I have not let this stop me from enjoying my favorite outdoor activities.
I am inspired to train by my family. I know I always want to be there for them; to be able to run and play with my siblings without diabetes getting in the way; this is reason enough for me to put in the time and energy to take care of my body.
As the creator and author of Running With Diabetes I am passionate about both health and wellness and sharing my experiences with the world.
My favorite movies are Tombstone and Braveheart and my favorite songs are Run (OneRupublc) and Glorious (feat Skyer)

Travelling
I love to travel and see new places. I am particularly fond of the beach; partly because I can run for miles on end.
History
I really enjoy studying any kind of history; from ancient Mesopotamia to America, I believe that the wisdom of the past is a guide for the future.
Cooking
I love to serve others, and one way I like to do this is by preparing a nice meal for someone I love. I especially love greek food.
Reading
From Jane Austen to John Grisham to Agatha Christie, I enjoy reading almost any kind of book. I love to experience new worlds and be new people. I am particularly fond of classics.
